Support a preacher:
One of the things that makes Hippo Valley such a unique mission is the number of African preachers we have working with us. We have dozens of church plants across Zimbabwe, along with four more in Mozambique, and they are each in the care of African preachers that have been trained in our schools and at Zimbabwe Christian College. Each preacher receives a small paycheck from the mission every month, but we are looking for sponsors who would be willing to cover that expense so our general funds can go toward other projects within the mission. Some of the villages where our preachers are located don't have the resources to financially support their preacher, and so this responsibility has fallen to the mission. It would be great to have sponsors for all of our preachers so we can continue to build and add in other areas of the country. Full Sponsorship is $300/month if you are able to fit that into your budget. We realize that is a large commitment and so we generally recommend $100 per month to sponsor a preacher, but will receive any financial commitment you are able to make.
As a sponsor, you would receive the name, picture, and basic info of one of our preachers, and email if they have one. You would then become a pen-pal with that preacher to serve as a spiritual mentor and encourager. This would allow you to build a relationship with the preacher and his family as well. You would be able to send/receive letters and gifts if that is something you would like to do. Our preachers in Zimbabwe will always be more than happy to receive church resources such as Bibles and other books. This program is a great opportunity to help someone continue to preach the gospel in a country that does not know the luxury of excess money. |
